Biography

The Sound of a Double Life

Cat Levan comes from a deeply musical family. Growing up, random instruments always seemed to appear in the house — a violin one day, a trumpet the next, a flute or banjo — but there was always a piano and a guitar. “My mother would play the piano as we were winding down to sleep. It was a dreamy way to drift off.”

Based in Surrey, British Columbia, Cat is a singer songwriter whose debut album Double Life was a lifetime in the making. At 18 she walked away from a record label opportunity — a regret that stayed with her. Decades later, she flew to California to record with Grammy-adjacent producer Steve Oliver, and didn’t look back.

“I can’t imagine life without music. It’s a good way to wind down at the end of the day — and to ignite everything at the beginning of it.”
—Cat Levan

The 11-track album explores love, loneliness, connection and uncertainty — weaving world beats, tribal rhythms and lush contemporary arrangements into a sound that is unmistakably Cat’s own.
